BC Refugees JobConnect is a web-based platform that brings together BC employers looking to hire, and job-ready refugees who have made BC their home. This easy-to-use website is designed to help employers fill their workforce needs while offering refugees an effective way to showcase their talents to BC businesses and gain meaningful labour-market attachment.
BC Refugees JobConnect is not your average “Job Board.” It does not involve posting of opportunities by employers and endless sifting through applications. Instead, BC Refugees JobConnect enables employers to identify candidates of interest based on flexible, multi-parameter searches of profile information and supporting documentation uploaded by the refugee job seekers.
This online platform is open to all refugees currently residing in BC, who have lived in Canada for less than five years, have a minimum lower intermediate English-language proficiency (Canadian Language Benchmark of four and above) and are looking for employment suitable to their skills, education and training.
IEC-BC’s goal is to create a ‘go-to’ site for BC employers seeking to fill specific roles and build diverse and inclusive workplaces. The online platform is designed to offer businesses access to an untapped talent pool in a coordinated, efficient, and effective way. BC Refugees JobConnect also aims to help the refugee population with their settlement and integration into the BC labour market and society.
